BCAF PAD A GIRL CHILD PROJECT 0.4
World Menstrual Hygiene
The Bishop Cyrinus Akpan Foundation (BCAF) has successfully completed the Pad A Girl Child Project 0.4 at Comprehensive Community Secondary School, Ikot Eyo, Nsit Ubium Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State. The outreach was organized to promote menstrual health awareness and empower adolescent girls so that menstruation does not become a barrier to their education, confidence, and personal growth.
The event featured a Novelty Football Match that brought excitement and teamwork among the students, followed by an enlightening Menstrual Hygiene Talk. During the talk, the girls were educated on proper menstrual health management, personal hygiene, self-confidence, and the need to break stigmas around menstruation.
A major highlight was the distribution of free reusable sustainable sanitary pads and disposable pads to the girls, ensuring they have access to safe and reliable menstrual products. Teachers also benefited from free medical check-ups and health education provided by the Foundation’s medical team.
The programme ended with a fun session where students interacted and celebrated in an atmosphere of encouragement. BCAF expressed gratitude to the management and staff of Comprehensive Community Secondary School, Ikot Eyo, the medical team, volunteers, partners, sponsors, and all stakeholders who made the project a success.
The Foundation remains committed to creating opportunities that uplift vulnerable groups, especially young girls, through impactful interventions in health, education, and community development.
